Ready-Or-Not, Set, GO!
I have had some successes in my life,

and I have had some spectacular failures…but all of my experiences have brought me to this point in my development. I have learned to stop rehashing the past, regretting poor decisions, and wishing I could have taken another path. Instead, I try to focus on the experience I gained and the lessons that I learned. You Are Missing It

Boys looking at phones

You are missing it. You get exactly one chance at this life, and you are missing it. As you cross the street staring intently at your Facebook notifications yearning for a thumbs up, or better yet, a heart; you could be passing by a real live person who would gladly give their heart or at least a thumbs up. Eye contact and a smile will mean more than a snap or a poke any day. Continue reading “You Are Missing It”

I Have No Excuse

excuses road sign

I have no excuse. I can’t help it…I have been unable to kick this disgusting habit. I feel shame every time I do it. I’ve tried to keep it private, but you can’t conceal an addiction this severe. My friends and family have grown weary and just look away sadly when it happens. Sometimes I do it without reason or occasion, it just comes out…an excuse. I prolifically produce pitiful excuses for all of my shortcomings, weaknesses, peccadillos, and poorly chosen words. Continue reading “I Have No Excuse”

You Will Die Tomorrow

twinkies

You will die tomorrow. What if that were true…and how do you know it’s not? A twinkie could get stuck in your airhole as you are racing down the stairs in a parking garage, late for work. You claw at your throat desperately trying to dislodge the golden sponge cake and cream flavored filling. Continue reading “You Will Die Tomorrow”

The Crazy Eye

A woman's crazy eye

The crazy eye. We often are more critical of ourselves and our perceived weaknesses than the people we interact with. This became really apparent to me when I discovered or was informed, that my wife had a lazy eye. Now, as far as lazy eyes go, it is very slight…so slight, in fact, that I am unable to tell which eye suffers from the lack of motivation. Continue reading “The Crazy Eye”

I Challenge You To Be Unsatisfied

smiley face checklist

I challenge you to be unsatisfied.

Unsatisfied, meaning you do not get enough, or what you want. You don’t have to accept your life or situation, ever. It is ok to want to be and have more. People will tell you that you should be content with where you are. I disagree. I think you should be grateful for what you have and constantly be seeking improvement. If each of us were ceaselessly trying to better ourselves and the world we live in, a lot of social problems would vanish. Continue reading “I Challenge You To Be Unsatisfied”

Frozen Burritos, Sagging Breasts, and Burpees

woman stretching

Exercise is important. It becomes essential as we age and our bodies succumb to the effects of gravity and too many beers. Chins double, bellies bulge, and breasts of both sexes sag. Hairlines recede and eyesight begins to fail. An epiphany occurs when you are trying to read the instructions for a microwave burrito, and they appear to be in Sanskrit. Frustrated you hurl the offending snack food into the counter. It rebounds with surprising force, causing you to slip a disc ducking. It then ricochets into the family room where it lodges in the center of your 77 inch 4k UHD curved smart tv. Continue reading “Frozen Burritos, Sagging Breasts, and Burpees”
